Who We Are
The Funding Team advances the arts and environmental programs by building creative partnerships that connect artists, Fresno State students, nonprofit organizations, environmental organizations, and community partners through meaningful artistic, educational, and environmental experiences.
We cultivate the next generation of creative professionals and environmental leaders through hands-on training, collaborative storytelling, public exhibitions, documentaries, multidisciplinary arts initiatives, environmental education, conservation, and sustainability projects. These programs expand equitable access to the arts and environmental opportunities for youth, economically distressed communities, individuals with disabilities, Veterans, and other underserved populations.
Through creativity, collaboration, environmental stewardship, and innovation, we enrich Fresno's artistic, cultural, and environmental landscape while inspiring lasting community impact.
Our Team
Chris and Laura Gothard had a vision for The Funding Team out of a shared passion for community transformation and a deep commitment to service, with more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, education, and grassroots organizing. They have dedicated their lives to empowering others—especially those serving on the front lines of education, faith, and the arts.
Their vision was simple but powerful: help mission-driven organizations thrive by equipping them with creative programming, sustainable strategies, and real-world talent. Today, that vision lives on through every youth art project facilitated, every college intern mentored, and every non-profit served by “The Team.”

Our team brings decades of diverse expertise across education, nonprofit leadership, grant writing, media, and entrepreneurship. Together, they power every element of The Funding Team’s mission:

Chris Gothard – With 35 years of experience in education, technology, and veteran competitive training, Chris brings innovation and insight to our capacity-building and project management efforts.

Laura Gothard – With 30 years in nonprofit management, program evaluation, and workforce skill training, Laura leads with strategic vision and compassion.

Estela Guimaraes – A seasoned writer with more than 20 years of experience, managing non-profit opportunities with precision.
